Life after ditching our microwave

most anyone that is into natural living has heard that microwaves aren’t the best, or safest, way to reheat your food. I’ve read many different articles about the harmful radiation, decreasing the nutrients in your food, etc. I had been reading these things for a few months before we decided to ditch the microwave.

we were living in a moldy house, and had to throw away our microwave with most of our other belongings. That’s when we decided we were not going to get another one.

in the beginning it took a bit of time to get used to how much longer reheating food takes. We bought a toaster oven that also had an air fry option to reheat most of our food. For things like soups we started using a pot on the stove. And for things like pasta, we just reheated in a pan on the stove.

we quickly realized how much better the food tasted when it was reheated on the stove or in the toaster oven. The texture is usually Atleast as good as when it was fresh, and you don’t have that soggy texture from the microwave. Pizza was sometimes better when reheated the next day in the air fryer. We never even bought a new toaster, and just used our toaster oven for toasting bread also.

although the microwave is quicker and more convenient, we now prefer the other methods. Now we don’t even think twice about the time it takes to reheat our food.

when we moved to our new place, we bought a new toaster oven that was a little bigger, and has more settings. We use it daily, and my husband makes the best chicken wings in it. Now I would never go back to using a microwave.

the only disadvantage I have found is that my hot packs can only be heated in the microwave. I do plan on just switching those to electrical ones.
